Booming Campervan Business Boosts Job Stats for Scotland

It is a phenomenon of the last couple of years that the temporary motorhome and campervan insurance business has rocketed in the UK. More evidence of the ever increasing popularity of renting a campervan for a UK holiday has been amply demonstrated by the news that a leading UK and Ireland campervan and motorhome rental company plan to invest £500,000 on a new office in Scotland.

Bunk Campers have been operating for several years from their Carryduff based business in Ireland and have seen their business increase rapidly as the UK and Ireland market in campervan and motorhome holidays has suddenly taken off. Bunk already claim to be the biggest multi-national campervan rental business in Ireland and the UK and say their 40 van fleet is advertised in 35 international markets around the world through their partnerships with travel agents. Certainly many of the Bunk Campervans made their way across Europe for the recent 2012 Euro Football championships and Bunk anticipate adding to their fleet once the Scottish development gets under way.

Invest NI have also backed the company to the tune of £40,000 via a jobs initiative fund and indeed the Scottish office should see 4 new jobs created. Oonagh Hinds, manager of Invest NI eastern regional office, was full of praise for the company saying “Bunk Campers has grown significantly since it was set up five years ago and this investment marks the next stage of its development. With Invest NI’s support it is expanding its work force and operations and is also exploring franchise opportunities in the UK and Europe, which could significantly increase its turnover.”

It is hoped the office will be open before the end of the year and holiday makers in Scotland will have more choice in the type of motorhome they choose to rent.
