Thousands of motorhome enthusiasts will welcome news released this week that the world’s longest running motoring event will take place once again this year.
The London to Brighton Veteran Car Rally will celebrate its 116th Birthday on November 4th this year and the RAC sponsored event will also feature the RAC Future Car Challenge and the Regent Street Motor Show. Incredibly the maximum entry level of 550 pre-1905 cars has once again been reached, with vehicles from as far afield as the USA, Canada, South Africa, Brazil and Mexico taking part.
This year Regent Street in London will be the centre of attention on the Saturday before the veteran car run as it will feature the Concourse D’Elegance where spectators will get the chance to see the cars which will complete the London to Brighton challenge the following day. An added bonus will be that onlookers will also get the chance to see the vehicles taking part in the Future Car Challenge cross the finishing line having set off from Brighton earlier in the day.
Chairman of the RAC Motoring Committee, Ben Cussons, could not hide his anticipation for the event, saying “The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run gets more and more popular each year and we’re expecting another full entry of 550 pre-1905 vehicles for the 2012 event. Each year we choose a different country for the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run to celebrate and in 2012 it is Great Britain, in recognition of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. There will clearly be a lot of interest from overseas in events taking place here this year and we have already had more entries from abroad than ever for the 2012 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.”
