New map is music to motorhome owner’s ears

VisitBritain has released a new online portal that will be of interest to motorhome owners who are also passionate about music. The tourism organisation has created a partnership with UK Music and between them they have come up with a comprehensive Great British Music Festivals map.

The fully interactive map covers all four corners of Great Britain and allows the user to see where more than five-hundred commercial music festivals are taking place in the months ahead. As well as well-known music festivals such as T in the Park, Leeds and Reading Festivals, Glastonbury and V Festival, the map also pinpoints much smaller-scale events such as the Essex Folk Festival, the Folk on the Pier attraction that takes place in Norfolk and the Lake District’s Kendall Calling. Not only will motorhome owners be able to discover where various festivals are taking place, there will also be links on the map that allow people to access the official festival websites. There will also be links to reviews from fellow music fans.

Music is very much part of the British DNA and an increasing number of mobile home owners are taking out motorhome insurance and heading off to a one of the festivals, gigs and concerts that take place all year round. The popularity of going to a music festival in a motorhome or campervan is expected to continue to grow and UK Music and VisitBritain are already looking at ways to improve the interactive music map.

Jo Dipple, chief executive of UK Music, is delighted to have had the opportunity to work with VisitBritain on the Great British Music Festivals map. She said: “The music industry makes a huge contribution to the economy and tourism, and I am glad this is recognised. The map clearly shows the strength and diversity of the festivals on offer, with all tastes catered for – it is clear to see why people travel from all over the country to enjoy what we offer.”
