Glovebox Essentials

MotorhomeForgetting things and leaving important bits behind are all part of going away, right? Well, up until now they are! Here’s a quick run-down of a few glovebox essentials that no motorhome owner should be without this summer…

Important Documents

No glovebox should be without of your MOT certificate, your motorhome driver’s license and counterpart license and your motorhome insurance details. If you’re involved in an incident or, worse, stopped by the police, you’ll need to be able to show that you’re all covered.

Repairs and Maintenance

Keep your owner’s manual to hand so that if anything flashes up on the dashboard you know what it means and how to deal with it. If you’re covered by a breakdown service then keep a contact number handy. It’s always useful to have a spare, fully charged mobile phone, too – today’s smartphones can last for perilously short periods of time.

Protection from the Elements

You never know what the weather is going to be like, so make sure you’re prepared for all eventualities. On colder days or at higher altitudes you’ll find ice scraper, hand warmers and, surprisingly, gloves will be invaluable and for warmer climates a good pair of sunglasses and a hat always come in handy.

Emergency Supplies

Driving for long periods isn’t always easy going so ensure you’re prepared if you hit problems: always keep a few high-energy snacks in your motorhome and keep a thermos handy. Most fuel stations will happily fill it with coffee for the right price!

Anything else?

You’ll spend a lot of your holiday scrabbling around in the dark if you don’t take a flashlight and remember that you can always make use for a pen and paper! Finally, a minimal first aid kit should bring you up to the full compliment!

With all these things in your glovebox you might not have a lot of spare room, but you’ll be prepared when you need it! Remember to replace anything you use, such as sticking plasters or if you dig into your food supplies, and you’ll be fully stocked and ready to go at all times…
