Whether it’s a festival, a concert, a motor-sports event or even a caravan convention, there’s no better way to stay in style than the motorhome. Usually major events offer a certain number of camping tickets, but you’ll usually need to be quick to get in on the action. Here are some top tips for attending events with your motorhome.
Book and Arrive in Good Time
The most important thing to do is leave yourself plenty of time when booking and arriving. Motorhome tickets to music festivals are usually very thin on the ground and are often quickly booked up by large companies hoping to sell them on so you have to be quick if you want to get in. Equally, arriving early is always a good idea; grass can quickly get churned up by cars and access will be much easier early in the day.
Check the Local Rules
Most events will have regulations on heights, pitch sizes and use of things like barbecues and generators. Usually these regulations aren’t particularly generous, so make sure you know what you’re getting yourself in for before you go. If you break the rules, your motorhome insurance is unlikely to be able to help you out in the event of a claim.
Don’t Expect Campsite Quality
At a campsite it’s pretty reasonable to expect facilities like water hoses, communal showers, waste disposal and some sort of camping supplies. This almost certainly won’t be the case at an event. Make sure you are as self-sufficient as you can be before setting off from home as it can be tricky getting in and out of some events and reclaiming your original pitch.
Most events are very well organised and are ideal for motorhome users but if you’re not a seasoned event attender then you should be sure you know what you’re attending. Be as self-sufficient as possible and make sure you have your tickets early on – big events will sell out faster than you can imagine!
