At the beginning of December the Cornwall Camper Company was officially opened by Lady Mary Holborow at the Eden Project Café in the town of Saint Austell. The owners invited people to come and explore the first lot of campervans added to their fleet and learn more about the company. During the event there was entertainment provided by a local band Steel Appeal, as well as an exclusively made cake made in the shape of one of the VW Camper vans from the fleet called Lilly by local cake company Dave’s All Occasion Cakes.
Cornwall Camper Company is the brain child of local residents Ben Ford and Jess Ratty, who wanted to give tourists even more reasons to visit the county, as well as the chance to travel in style in one of their vintage restored campers. Ratty said that “This is such an exciting time for us, we have worked tirelessly for two years to renovate our first two vans Lilly and Jessie and we are looking forward to our first full year of VW campervan hire in Cornwall.”
The company offers exclusive packages with their hire vans which include adventure holidays, wine and ale tours, weddings, and even bespoke yoga break which all give a new twist to the traditional campervan holiday. The entirety of the VW campervans in the fleet have been extensively rebuilt with a strong emphasis on renovation, using recycled parts from other VW’s where possible in order to uphold the environmental and sustainable aims of the company.
Lady Mary Holborow said at the event: “I’m delighted to support such a very innovative and exciting new business which will be an extra bonus to the tourism industry in Cornwall.” Not only will the Cornwall Campervan Company help increase tourism, but it will also improve sales in motorhome insurance, as well as local businesses. Co-owner Ben Ford stated that “We love Cornwall and we are inspired to work hard with as many local businesses as possible to provide fantastic holidays that create memories for a lifetime.”
