Last month we discussed how some of the most significant motorhome manufacturers in the world were preparing for one of the biggest events of the season – the Motorhome and Caravan Show. Held between the 15th and 20th of October the show promised to display some of the most innovative and technologically advanced motorhomes as well as include hundreds of exhibitors throughout the five days.
As this is such a big event in the motorhome industry, Comfort Insurance decided that we couldn’t miss this great opportunity and so some of our team attended the show to see everything that it had to offer. Speaking about the show, Comfort Insurance’s marketing manager Charlotte Davies said: “While I’ve been to a couple of motorhome shows before I’ve never previously attended the Motorhome and Caravan Show, and I must admit it didn’t disappoint!”
“I was absolutely amazed at the number of motorhomes, campervans, caravans and RVs that were there, as well as the quality of the models that were on display. It really does show how motorhomes have come a long way since they began, especially when it comes to technology.” Along with other members of the Comfort Insurance team, Charlotte was able to have a first-hand look at some of the new models motorhome manufacturers are planning to go on sale in 2014, and she admits she was extremely impressed.
“The thing that struck me most about a number of the motorhome models at the show was the amount of space they offer,” said Charlotte, “Some people may have some preconceptions about motorhomes, such as they can be cramped and uncomfortable, but they really do offer a vast amount of space, and many of them even included double cookers and electronically controlled beds.”
At Comfort Insurance we have always been passionate about the advancement of the motorhome and how it has now turned into something that can be truly personalised, as well as offer the ability to travel the world in comfort. It seems as though motorhome manufacturers are seeing the increase in popularity of motorhome and caravan holidays as a great reason to really show the market what they can provide, and many have come up with some ground-breaking models.
Those that exhibited at the event this year benefitted from a record breaking amount of visitors, with the Director General of the National Caravan Council, John Lally, saying: “We’re obviously very pleased to have achieved another record breaking attendance, but our real measure of success is the quality of the customers we are able to attract to the Show and the experience those customers have when they get here.”
“The display of product in the halls was unrivalled. They were the lightest, most innovative, well designed and well specified models we have seen for many years and this is reflected in the volume of sales. For the industry, the sales success of this Show is about more than just reaping a return on investment. It signals a potential upturn for the industry which we have been working towards since the recession hit. That is the real reason to celebrate.”
Naturally, everyone here at Comfort Insurance is extremely pleased that this year’s Motorhome and Caravan Show was such a success, and that the industry is going from strength to strength. Not only will this benefit motorhome manufacturers and motorhome insurance providers, but also those that rely on the industry such as caravan site owners and those that run tourist attractions in the UK. In fact, thanks to the rising popularity of the motorhome and caravan holiday the UK economy has also benefitted, meaning that we expect to see the motorhome holiday become even more popular in the near future.
