Adults Only: Motorhome trips for Adults

In yesterday’s article we gave advice on how to plan for a motorhome holiday if you have children, however today we are doing the exact opposite and looking at motorhome holidays strictly for those over eighteen. Going on a motorhome holiday with children can be great fun; however there are certain things you may not be able to do and places your children will not want to visit. This is why if you are planning an adults only motorhome holiday you want to make the most out of it, and here we look at how:

Choosing your Motorhome

One of the great things about going away without children is it means that you don’t need to worry about making sure that they are constantly comfortable and that there is room for all the things they need to bring with them. This means that you have the choice to either take your own motorhome or try something new out, such as a different version or even a retro campervan! When planning your holiday it could be fun to look at the hire places around your area and see if there is a motorhome there that you would like to try for a couple of weeks. This is especially handy if you are debating buying a new motorhome too and motorhome insurance is often included!

Caravan Sites

If you are planning on an adult only holiday the last thing you want is to get to your caravan site and find that there are children everywhere. This is why it’s a good idea to research caravan parks and find ones in the area that you are travelling to that cater specifically for those that are over eighteen. You still need to be careful however – just because a campsite only offers their services to adults doesn’t mean it is automatically the right one for you, as adults consist of those ranging anywhere from their twenties to their nineties! In order to make sure you pick the right one for you check the reviews of each campsite, and if you can’t find all the information you need online then give them a call and ask them about their business.

Another great thing about going on an adult motorhome holiday is that you don’t need to worry about keeping your children occupied all the time, which means that when you pack you don’t need to bring toys, blankets, favourite water bottles and more! The fact that you are bringing marginally less with you means that you could actually save a lot of money in petrol during your trip as your vehicle will be less heavy. If you are travelling on a budget make sure that you try and pack light, however don’t forget that you will want things like books and DVDs for when you are relaxing during your trip.

Day Trips

If you have ever been on holiday with children before then you will know that arguments often happen when you try to take them somewhere they don’t want to go such as an art museum or a tour of a local town. This means that adults often have to cater to their children when they are away and end up visiting theme parks and child-friendly establishments that aren’t very intellectually stimulating! Therefore, when you are away without children make sure you take the opportunity to visit all the local attractions that you would struggle to get your children to enjoy.

Most big cities have a whole range of restaurants, shops and museums you can visit, or if you fancy something more rural why not take part in a hike or even arrange an activity day out? Don’t forget you could also go out in your motorhome and find something new and exciting – without having to worry about bored children during the trip!

Going on an adult’s motorhome holiday can be fun, relaxing and enjoyable, so if you think you need a well-deserved break why not start planning one of your own!
