We can’t believe it’s been a decade since we squeezed, squashed, and sardined our way into the Guinness Book of World Records. With the help of 51 legendary campervan enthusiasts, we set the Guinness World Record for the Most people crammed in a Classic VW Campervan, a record that we still hold to this day!
Our World Record 10 Years On
To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of holding this record, we’ve put together a throwback video that captures the chaos of that unforgettable day so can experience it too!
One Classic 1974 Bay VW Campervan, 51 Amazing Festival-goers
We set the record at Busfest 2015, held at the Malvern Showground in Worcestershire. It’s a day to remember for all of us a Comfort, the atmosphere was electric, we were all buzzing with excitement and anticipation as we wondered whether the campervan doors would actually close and if we’d pull off the record or not! There were even some last moments of drama, while sharing throwback photos from the day via our social media recently, one of our amazing volunteers from the day Natalie shared a story that “just as the door was going to be shut a wasp came in,” getting everyone’s hearts racing at the final minute!

Even TV personality James Lewis known for BBC shows like Flog It, Bargain Hunt, and Antiques Road Trip, was there to witness the madness, Lewis stating “I’ve been involved in quite a few world records in my time but this has been one of the most exciting yet, especially as it has never been done before and for such a worthy cause.”
Not only did we make history, but we also used the event to raise funds for an incredible cause Make A Wish UK, a charity that helps grant life changing wishes to children with critical illnesses.
After we set the record Comfort Insurance founder and director, Peter Cue shared “Our customers enjoy having fun with their campervans and we wanted to do the same. What better way than getting everyone involved in trying to set a world record, whilst helping families and children across the UK!”
