Summer Holiday in Scotland
If you are still deciding where to go on your caravanning holiday this year, why not head for Scotland? Yes we know what you are thinking, Scotland only means one thing and that’s rain. Let’s face it, where ever you go in the UK this year you are bound to have rain. At least in Scotland there are the stunning views to make up for it.
We have selected two great campsites that everyone will enjoy to help you decide on your last minute vacation.
The first is Ardgatan. This campsite is situated along the shore of Loch Long. There are the great mountains of Argyll Forest Park which is a brilliant place for exploring especially if you like walking or cycling.
For those who are keen hikers, the Ardgartan campsite is on the main route to Oban and there are also routes up Ben Arthur. By being based at this campsite there are many Munros (mountains taller than 3000 ft) right on your doorstep.
If walking isn’t for you why not stay at the loch, it is just outside after all. There is also a long stretch of beach at the side of the campsite which is a great place for fishing. During the peak season there is also a range of activities for children and there is a cafe and shop on site.
If you like water sports and a bit of adventure then Glenmore campsite is the one for you. This campsite is again on the shore of a Loch but this time Loch Morlich. There is a great beach here at it is right in the centre of the Scottish Cairngorms.
There are great activities here such as sailing and a range of other water sports. Again there are a number of nature trails to cycle or walk down and in the winter there is even skiing. If you are a wildlife lover then this place will be your heaven. It has been known that there are deer, otters and even golden eagles in the area.
There are activities for the children and for all your supplies and food, Aviemore is only 15 minutes down the road in the car. There is a substantial selection of restaurants, pubs, shops and there is a supermarket.
As with any holiday, it is essential to plan ahead in case of an emergency. Breakdown cover and motorhome insurance are vital in case of a breakdown or an accident. This just gives peace of mind and makes you road legal so you won’t find yourself in trouble on your holidays.
If you are heading or have been to Scotland in your motorhome, let us know below or via our Twitter and Facebook pages. We would love to hear about your adventures in the Lochs.
