Are you in need of some real inspiration for your next campervan holiday? Perhaps you’ve been to the same holiday park for a few years in a row and you’re thinking you need to move on? Well, here’s a quick run-down of a few classic European routes which not only let you take in some spectacular sights, but they’re all campervan friendly too.
Loop the Lakes
Spend a few days cruising slowly through the Champagne region and perhaps spend a night in Paris before getting to Geneva. From here, spend some time in cities like Annecy and Lausanne, enjoying a few wild spots and some beautiful summer swimming opportunities. You’re close enough to touch the Alps but there’s no real need to drive at altitude unless you really want to.
Denmark, Sweden and the Øresund Bridge
The Øresund Bridge is truly awesome and is the best way of getting between Copenhagen in Denmark and Malmo is Sweden. Surprisingly enough, Denmark is very accessible by motorhome, ferries run from Hull to the Netherlands on a regular basis and from here it’s easy to take a costal loop via the fjords. Beware in winter, of course, the roads will be treacherous.
The Atlantic Coast Route
One of the most heartbreakingly beautiful stretches of coastline in the world sits only a few hours’ drive from Plymouth. Hop on a ferry to Roscoff in Brittany and cruise down through the sunflower fields of Aquitaine, the surf cities of the Basque Country and just graze the corner of Northern Spain. It’s easy to get a return ferry, or to do the trip in reverse, from Santander.
Remember that if you’re travelling across multiple nations you will need a good campervan insurance policy that insures you hassle-free wherever you are. Enjoy the road, always respect the countryside and why stick to the beaten track: use our guide to find some inspiration to your own Euro trip.
