Although the National Motorhome & Caravan Show is still three months away, organisers have put tickets on sale this week in anticipation of record visitor numbers.
The annual show will take place between October 16th-21st at Birmingham’s NEC and already the show promises to be the biggest ever. As usual all the top motorhome and campervan manufacturers will have their 2013 models on display and in many cases prospective buyers will be able to not only buy a motorhome but purchase the motorhome insurance, breakdown cover and anything else required to get the vehicle on the road and drive it home. A spokesman for the show was ebullient about the plans for the event saying: “This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than before, occupying eleven halls (over 80,000 square meters) and uniting more than 400 exhibitors, including campsites, destinations, attractions, leisure suppliers and service providers.”
It is a sign of the times perhaps that organisers have gone out of their way this week to announce two big names that will appear at the show and both of them are TV personalities. Former rugby international and now cooking personality Matt Dawson will be sharing the stage with another TV chef Paul Hollywood in the Cookery Theatre, although not at the same time. Dawson appearing on the 20th and Hollywood on the 17th. It seems as if motorhomes and cooking are inextricably linked these days with another TV chef, Martin Dorey, having success with his books Campervan Coast and Campervan Cookbook. With interest in motorhome holidays growing over the last few years it seems Britons are turning back to nature when it comes to organising “staycations” which can only be good news for all those with an interest in vehicles that are associated with camping.
Tickets for the show cost only £8 and can be booked online or by telephone, parking and a show guide are inclusive of the price.
