First Motorhome auction event of 2013 is a Great Success

Motorhome and caravan holidays are becoming more and more popular with the British public, especially as they are known for being a cheap alternative to travelling abroad. Motorhomers are always looking for a good deal on their motorhome insurance, campsite bookings and vehicles, so it’s no surprise to hear that the first motorhome and caravan sale event of 2013 attracted a vast amount of potential customers looking to invest in a new vehicle or trailer. British Car Auctions has reported that their recent specialist caravan and motorhome auction held at the Measham auction centre on Friday the 11th of January attracted over two hundred dealer and private buyers, with a further seventy trade buyers going online in order to bid using the British Car Auctions’ Live Online service.

Discussing the event, British Car Auctions’ Corporate Account Manager for Lex AutoLease, Alan Gupwell said: “With relatively limited opportunities to buy caravans and motorhomes at auction, these sales have always been popular, but the step up in interest so early in the year is unprecedented. Buyers were competing very strongly across the board and values routinely exceeded guide prices – often by a considerable margin. There have already been a number of reports that many families are considering staying in the UK and taking short breaks in 2013. No doubt many see a caravan or a motorhome as a good value investment for this years’ holiday and the years ahead.”

One of the most profitable companies at the show were Black Horse, as the Black Horse Motor Finance vendor introduced new ‘Care Packs’ that came with every purchase of a caravan or motorhome. These packs included all documentation needed for the new vehicles, including Caravan Registration & Identification Check Scheme (CRIS) certificates for caravans, and V5 and VOSA certificates for motorhomes.

Knowing that all the caravans and motorhomes had passed their required checks, bidders felt more at ease spending their money on Black Horse’s vehicles, which means a total of forty caravans were sold on the day, making the company over £300,000. Dale Evans, Northern Area Auction Manager for Lex Autolease said: “Our Black Horse brand has a huge following at Measham and we work very closely with BCA to ensure we offer a sparkling selection of vehicles in every sale. With the extra peace of mind from the Black Horse Care Packs, this really is the place to be to bid on the widest selection of caravans and motorhomes, with something to fit every budget.”
