4 ways to make the most out of your Motorhome in 2014
At the beginning of each year people make New Year’s resolutions in order to improve their lives, usually along the lines of eating healthier or doing something they have been putting off. However, after a few weeks most people tend to give up on their resolutions as day-to-day life gets in the way and old habits resurface. This is why we believe you should try something new: make a resolution to really get the most out of your motorhome in 2014. Sounds hard? Here’s four simple ways:
Pick new Destinations
If you are a seasoned motorhome owner you probably have a few select destinations that you know you like and travel to on a regular basis. While this may ensure you have the holiday you are expecting, it also takes the excitement and spontaneity out of your trip, which means you are not using your motorhome to its full potential. One of the best things about owning a motorhome is that you can practically go wherever you want whenever you want, so why visit the same place time and time again? This year, pick somewhere you have never been before, or if you are really up for an adventure just set off with no plan or itinerary and see where it takes you (just don’t forget your passport!)
Give your Motorhome a Makeover
Converting a motorhome can often be a long and arduous process, especially if you are planning on making modifications to the bodywork or chassis. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t change your motorhome every now and again to give it a new lease of life. Little things such as adding new furnishings can make a huge difference, or if you have a bigger budget you could even alter the upholstery. For those with a real creative side you could even go so far as to spray your motorhome a different colour, which is particularly effective if you own a vintage-style campervan such as a VW T2 Kombi. If all else fails just invest in some little extras such as picnic baskets, fairy lights and kitchen utensils!
Upgrade your Motorhome Technology
Motorhome technology has advanced greatly over the past few years, and it’s now possible to invest in a whole range of gadgets to improve your motorhome. One of the most beneficial pieces of technology you can invest in is a multi-media system including a television, sound system, telephone and internet. If you are planning on going on a long-haul motorhome adventure not only will these accessories make your trip more comfortable but it also means you can document your journey for others to see. Blogs and social media accounts are becoming increasingly popular among those heading off on motorhome adventures as it means they can share their experiences with friends and family and are able to look back on their trip once it’s over.
Teach a Motorhome Novice
All motorhome owners know someone that always says ‘I would never go on a motorhome holiday’, but instead of just letting them miss out why not show them how great they can be? Even though it may take some convincing, bringing a motorhome novice on a journey can be really enjoyable for you both, as watching someone experience it for the first time will remind you of how excited you were on your first motorhome adventure. You could even let them pick the destination or help with motorhome maintenance so they really get a feel for it. If you are feeling particularly brave (and your motorhome insurance covers it) you could even let them drive for a little while! Getting a friend into motorhoming also means that you will have more people to travel with in the future, ultimately expanding the motorhome community.
There is no better excuse than the beginning of a new year to start making the most out of your motorhome, so don’t let the months slip by without trying something new.
